We didn't start the fire

I am always so impressed by this song. Billy Joel wrote this song based off of headlines between 1949 (the year he was born) and 1989. I think it is quite impressive that he was able to use headlines/major events in the world's history and actually work it into a song, make it catchy, and make it a hit! How many people can really do this plus it is very informative!! I would completely suggest reading the lyrics while listening to the song. Also a great source for teachers to get kids interested in this period of history? Perhaps.

If there is time I would suggest reading:

this reminds me of summer right now:

green grass

I see gorgeous green grass, budding trees and a slight wind. Today looks absolutely gorgeous. I will be going on a run again at lunch around the Rideau Canal. It's days like today that make me appreciate this city!

Let's try again

I do not see this from any of my windows but I wish I did.

Some are not as amazing as others, so it does take some patience to scroll through and find the gems. But, once you find them you just cannot get over those photos!

international YOU day

i'm sorry that it took so long
to write this song
but i gave up
you see one million words can't describe
how it feels
to know your love

where did i go wrong?
i should have told you from the start
that i'm closer then you think
when we're apart
nothing that i've tried
is as simple as this line

but without you
my life is incomplete
my days are absolutely gray
and so i try
let your heart know for sure
that i have so much more to tell you
every single day

i swear i'm giving up my inside
to the one
that i adored
i know this world is big enough
for you and i
but i'll give you more

i'm coming home today
to wipe the tear drop from your eyes
i'm totally enamored by your life
nothing that i've done
has ever been for one

but without you
my life is incomplete
my days are absolutely gray
and so i try
let your heart know for sure
that i have so much more to tell you
every single day

my life is incomplete
my rights are absolutely wrong
so wake me up
before you leave today
something i need to say
cause they'll be nothing when you're gone

fields

My window today is the window of a train. I am on my way to London, ON for a work conference. All I see are trees, fields, some cows (one that was running!) Also, sometimes other trains pass by really close and it's scary.

I also feel motion sick. gross.

boys

i saw three tattooed guys, with a lot of skin showing, facial hair, sun glasses and a lot of jean (jean vests (open to show their chest), jean pants, jean jackets and possibly a jean hat!). i tried to act cool in front of them it was kind of hard while wearing sweat pants and a sweat shirt, greasy hair, bringing garbage to the back and doing a wash.

oh well, at least i have my own tattooed, sometimes hairy guy at home (at least he doesn't do the whole jean thing...i don't really get that).

snow

Outside my office window i saw snow. Really? It is April, spring has arrived but there was some snow. It didn't stay...it went away as soon as it started. But really, snow!? People in the office cried out in horror.

Today outside the window Sabrina saw a car drive by. She found it loud and it made her scared.

emergency vehicles

Today I see emergency vehicles outside the office window. I am always intrigued as to where they are going...this happens almost everyday.

rain

All I have seen out of the windows in my life today has been rain, well a little bit of sleet, but mostly rain.

The rain led me to watch this:

If this is what it takes to get us (and by us I mean youth 18-25 years old) to vote then so be it, jump on the bandwagon!! I will push it a little further by saying do some research...or better yet share your research!!

Time travel

the cat and the passerby

I tend to sit at my computer in front of a window that looks down on a street. I like to listen to what is going on with passerby's and with neighbours. I like to think that I am just being curious and aware of my surroundings, maybe I am being creepy and gossipy, either way there tends to be enough curious going on's in and around the apartment.

I was sitting here while making dinner and saw the cat outside. This cat is very friendly and would likely go home with just about anyone. A passerby noticed the cat and decided to sit down on the sidewalk to visit with the cat. Maybe they thought it was lost, maybe they thought it needed a new home, when really it was just having a visit with the passerby. As I was watching the cat visit with the passerby I noticed that this passerby was watching me. (I have noticed that many people tend to look up at the apartment as they walk by, maybe I am not as invisible as I think I am and are pointing at the creepy girl in the window staring at them, or maybe they just like the flag that hands in our window or maybe they are just pointing out how weird our apartment building looks (pretty damn odd).)  I ignored him and went back to my internet browsing, looked back and he was still staring, what should i do? I did nothing...eventually he left. Thank goodness for locks on doors I suppose.
